Family Honor – Northwest, PA Affiliate

We, the “new” affiliate, are very excited! We are the first affiliate to have two teams and are working very hard during our mentoring phase so that we may begin presenting programs in the fall of this year. Our affiliate is located in Northwestern Pennsylvania covering the Diocese of Erie. Our affiliate has been endorsed by Roman Catholic Bishop Donald Trautman.

We have 22 presenters being trained on both teams: 11 in Erie, PA and 11 in St. Mary’s, PA. However, the Erie team is still looking for a few more great men to become presenters!

As our affiliate continues to grow, we look forward to presenting programs in our communities, continuing to establish teams in the Diocese of Erie, and raising funds to help support our mission.

Our affiliate is Family Honor of Northwestern Pennsylvania. We can be contacted at FamilyHonorNWPA@aol.com. Our website is under construction.

We have had two great articles about our affiliate in local newspapers:

Family Honor – Gulf Coast, FL Affiliate

Knights of Columbus Council 7272 of St. Ann's Catholic Church recently donated $200 to our affiliate, for which we are very grateful. Thank you, Knights!

Our affiliate is recruiting new members for our advisory board. Drs. De La Rosa have both agreed to be on the Advisory Board.

We are recruiting men and women to register for the fall, 2008 semester of Family Honor’s DVD training course.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Family Honor – St. Louis, MO Affiliate

Our St. Louis affiliate is happy to report that we are getting very good responses from the parents and teens as to what the Family Honor program has done for their parent/teen communication.

We are also excited to report that we have gotten a lot of positive press which has given the program high visibility within the Archdiocese. A recent article about our team and our programs can be accessed by going to: http://www.stlouisreview.com/article.php?id=15089

However, the great press has also increased the need for securing additional presenters so we can provide more classes in the future.  For 2007-08, we presented Changes & Challenges programs at Gateway Academy and Incarnate Word and a Real Love & Real Life program at Gateway as well.

For information about booking a program in the St. Louis area, contact Steve Notestine, at steven@quadrantproperties.com or Pat Notestine at pnotestine@charter.net.

Family Honor – Raleigh, NC Affiliate

Two of our team members will be participating in the Emmaus Road Conference in New Bern in October. We will join FH Executive Director Brenda Cerkez for a workshop about Family Honor during the conference and will also help to host an exhibit table there.

We are also in the process of booking programs in our area for the 2008-09 program year.

April 2008

Raleigh, North Carolina

The Raleigh, North Carolina Family Honor affiliate has also been planning and delivering Family Honor programs. They presented the Changes & Challenges program for parents with their 6th grade child at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh back in October. Their next program will be Changes & Challenges at St. Patrick's in Fayetteville on April 4 & 11, 2008. That will be followed by a collaborative effort with a South Carolina team for Real Love & Real Life at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh on April 18 & 19, 2008.

The Family Honor Raleigh affiliate reports that “… the Bishop of Raleigh supports our work and this has been a great encouragement to their team.”

“Our local team was also part of a large local pro-life fundraiser in October, The Benefit for Life Gala, which had 500 in attendance. This is a yearly event to support several ministries: Birthchoice Medical Clinic, Project Rachel, the Gabriel Project, and now Family Honor Raleigh.”

They also have a new team member, Team Leader Lisa Roess' husband, Ed, who just completed his training via Family Honor’s DVD-based college course.

Those in Raleigh or surrounding areas who would like to contact the team about programming should call Linda Gaviria, the Affiliate Director, at (919) 467-5527.

Atlanta/North Georgia

Our Atlanta affiliate thus far has presented three multi-session Real Love & Real Life programs for the 2007-2008 program year. On January 11-12 they delivered the weekend version of this program at long-standing host site, Pinecrest Academy. This has been followed quickly by two other programs, one on January 25-26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Chattanooga Tennessee and the most recent on February 1-2 St. Peter Chanel Parish in Atlanta.

Their affiliate director, Mary Pat Haywood, says that their team,“… has now been presenting the Real Love Real Life Program for two years. Our team is growing, fourteen presenters, and we hope to continue to work to bring Family Honor to more parishes. Our evaluations tell us that people like the programs and would highly recommend them to a friend from both the parents and the adolescent viewpoint. Below are a few of the comments from recent programs regarding what parents liked best about the Family Honor program they attended:

  • “Interactive time with my child”
  • “The time with my daughter was priceless; chastity has a whole new meaning for me and my family”
  • “The SPICE is a great way to explain self worth, self esteem and total presence”
  • “The relaxed atmosphere, the wide range of relevant topics covered and the knowledgeable, friendly nature of the staff”
  • “The emphasis of the Theology of the Body”
