Family Honor National Advisory Board

In conjunction with our organization’s 30th anniversary in 2018, Family Honor is happy to announce the formation of our National Advisory Board (NAB)! The NAB has been formed with YOU in mind. NAB members will serve in an advisory capacity for Family Honor on important topics relating to marriage, family life, chastity, theology, communication, God’s gift of sexuality, and more. In the coming months, look for special columns written by NAB members for our e-blasts and web site. This month, we’re introducing the first six members of our Advisory Board.


Rev. Philip Bochanski
Executive Director, Courage International

Father Bochanski received an M.A. in Theology from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in May, 1999. He has served in several parish assignments as well as in special ministry as a high school theology teacher, a chaplain for cloistered nuns, and a spiritual director for seminarians. Father Bochanski has been active in the work of adult faith formation, particularly in catechesis of adult converts. An award-winning author, he has written and edited four books, five audio series, and numerous articles on various aspects of Church history, catechesis and spirituality. Fr. Bochanski served for five years as chaplain for the Courage Apostolate in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Founded in 1980, Courage provides pastoral care and spiritual support for Catholic men and women who experience same-sex attractions and who desire to live chastely in accord with the teaching of the Catholic Church on homosexuality. On Jan.1, 2017, Father was named the new Exec. Director of Courage International, Inc., which includes more than 100 chapters in dioceses throughout the U.S. as well as groups in 15 other countries on five continents.

Mary Beth Bonacci
Founder, Real Love, Inc.

Mary Beth first learned about St. John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body” shortly after he concluded the original series of talks in 1985. She was enthralled, and within a year she became one of the first speakers to address the topic on a national level. For the next twenty years, she traveled full-time throughout the country and around the world, speaking to audiences about chastity and the beauty of the Church’s teaching on human sexuality.  She is the founder of Real Love, Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting respect for God’s gift of human sexuality.  Her book Real Love, has been translated into ten languages and has now been completely revised and updated.  She is also the author of We’re on a Mission from God, and writes a regular syndicated column with appears in the Denver Catholic.  Her educational video, Sex and Love: What’s a Teenager to Do? was awarded the Crown Award for best youth curriculum.  In 1993, she spoke to 75,000 people at World Youth Day in Denver, Colorado; and in 1999, she spoke to 22,000 at the TWA Dome during the Pope’s visit to St. Louis. Mary Beth is a Denver native who grew up at St. Bernadette Parish in Lakewood.  Since she retired from full-time speaking in 2005, she has worked as a real estate agent with RE/MAX Alliance, where she was recently inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame.

Dr. Peter Kleponis

Is a Licensed Clinical Therapist and Assistant Director of Comprehensive Counseling Services in Conshohocken, PA.  He holds an M.A. in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA and a Ph.D. in General Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.  Dr. Kleponis has over 20 years of professional experience working with individuals, couples, families and organizations.  He specializes in marriage & family therapy, pastoral counseling, resolving anger, men’s issues, and pornography addiction recovery.  He is Certified in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Addictions by The American Association of Christian Counselors’ Light University, by Dr. Mark Laaser’s Freedom Begins Here Program, and by the SATP Institute’s Sex Addiction Treatment Provider Program.  He is creator of the successful the Integrity Starts Here! recovery program and a founder member of

Damon Owens
Founder & Executive Director, Joy To Be

Damon, international speaker and evangelist, is the founder and Executive Director of Joy to Be, centered on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Following four years as executive director of the Theology of the Body Institute, he served as Chairman of the 2016 Theology of the Body Congress. He previously founded Joy-Filled Marriage New Jersey and New Jersey Natural Family Planning Association, non-profit organizations dedicated to building a marriage culture through training, seminars, and conferences.  Damon and his wife, Melanie, taught Natural Family Planning for 14 years and served as NFP Coordinators for the Archdiocese of Newark. A certified speaker for the Theology of the Body Institute, National Trainer for Ascension Press, and presenter at the 2015 World Meeting of Families, Damon keeps a full international speaking schedule at conferences, marriage seminars, universities, high schools, seminaries, and parishes on the good news of marriage, sexuality, Theology of the Body, Theology of the Family, adoption, and NFP. Damon currently lives outside Philadelphia with his wife, Melanie, and their eight children.

Glenn T. Stanton
Director, Family Formation Studies
at Focus on the Family

Glenn debates and lectures extensively on the issues of gender, sexuality, marriage and parenting at universities and churches around the world. Stanton also served the George W. Bush administration for many years as a consultant on increasing fatherhood involvement in the Head Start program. Stanton is the author of eight books on marriage and families and a regular columnist for various blogs. His latest book, “Loving My (LGBT) Neighbor: Being Friends in Grace and Truth,” explores how Christians should interact with gay or lesbian neighbors in a Christ-honoring way. He is also the co-writer of “Irreplaceable” a film seen in theatres nationwide, and the co-author and creator of “The Family Project,” a 12-session small group DVD curriculum produced by Focus on the Family. Stanton earned bachelor’s degree in philosophy, communication arts and religion and a master’s degree in philosophy, history and religion from the University of West Florida.

Rose Sweet
Speaker and Author

Rose is a Catholic author and speaker who directs people who are seeking happiness in marriage, family, and friendships to “Put your RELIGION into your RELATIONSHIPS.” With heart and humor she serves up powerful truths of the Catholic faith in bite-sized morsels. To help strengthen and heal all types of relationships, Rose points to Christ and expertly draws on the mysteries of the Interior Life, Theology of the Body, the timeless teaching of the four temperaments, laws of relationship building, dating, courtship, mercy in marriage, divorce recovery, annulment, remarriage, and parenting. She’s authored numerous books on relationships and her Surviving Divorce DVD program is in hundreds of parishes around the world. Rose is a favorite presenter at parish missions, retreats, and national conferences including the 2015 World Meeting of Families, Theology of the Body Congress, and the USCCB 2017 Convocation of Catholic Leaders.  For 25 years she’s facilitated small groups, leader training classes, and serves as a lay advocate in dioceses around the country, helping people in the Catholic annulment process.
