Job Summary:

The mission of Family Honor is to provide a Catholic framework on the truth and meaning of sexuality, love, and family. The executive director of Family Honor provides direction and leadership towards the achievement of Family Honor’s mission, program goals, and financial objectives.  This is a full-time position but hours can be flexible.

Job Location:

Current office is located in Columbia, SC. Relocation of office to another city may be considered.

Responsibilities:

Programs – Oversees the development and delivery of Catholic, family-centered programs that focus on providing opportunities for parents and their pre-teen or teen to communicate about important life issues, with a special focus on chastity and God’s gift of sexuality. Communicates regularly with Family Honor Team Leaders and Presenters.

Training – Participates in weekend classes and seminars designed to provide adults with continuing education on Catholic Church teaching and current moral issues.

Fundraising and Finance – Develops annual budget and a plan for funding the organization’s activities; does regular outreach to donors; works with administrative assistant to track income and expenditures and update database. Also researches and applies for grant funding.

Marketing – Works with graphic designers and others to create promotional materials for Family Honor programs, classes, and seminars. Writes monthly eblasts, Annual Report Newsletter, Summer Newsletter. Serves as primary spokesperson for the organization with media.

Board – Reports to and collaborates with Family Honor Board of Directors to initiate and update policies and track progress on annual goals.

Administrative – Manages daily operations of the organization, including communication with outside vendors and consultants. Supervises Admin. Assistant and volunteers. Ensures that deadlines are met regarding reports to outside agencies and other entities for renewal of contracts, services, licenses, and memberships. Prepares and ships book orders to customers and program materials to Family Honor teams.

Qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
  • Four-year college degree in one of the following: Education, Journalism, Business, Theology, Nursing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience serving as director or program manager for non-profit organization, ministry, parish, or diocese. Military or business leadership also considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Able to periodically travel in-state and out-of-state.
  • Willing to be available some evenings and weekends for speaking engagements.
  • Familiar with Catholic Church teaching on sexuality, marriage, family, and The Theology of the Body.

  • Successful major gift fundraiser
